Motion Graphics and Compositing Exercises
Motion Graphics and Compositing Exercises
INSTRUCTION
Week 1
In the first week, we were given a brief about what we gonna do and learn in these 14weeks. After the brief, the lecturer shows us some seniors' work as references to make us more clear about our project. Other than that, we were asked to create a Pinterest acc and pin some nice work on board as our future references. The references can make our lecturer Mr.Fauzi to be more clear about what we are trying to achieve so that he can guide us more effectively.
Even tho it is the first week, we were given an exercise to do after the class. For this exercise, we will need to collect some magazines, newspapers, or even posters. Then, cut out some images or elements that we like. Hence, arrange them and form a collage.
Before I start the exercises I get the old newspaper and magazine that I collected before for the Design Principle exercise. Below is my progression:

Week 2
This week, Mr.Fauzi introduced to us what is Motion Graphic and he also shows us some videos to make sure we understand Motion Graphic. Motion graphics (sometimes mograph) are pieces of animation or digital footage which create the illusion of motion or rotation and are usually combined with audio for use in multimedia projects.
After the lecture, we show Mr.Fauzi the collage piece that we did last week one by one. Unfortunately, I did not follow the instruction given by the lecturer while doing the first exercise. We were asked to make 3 compositions and do not stick them before consulting with the lecturer. In my situation, I thought that we can stick it once we are satisfied with our collage. This is a big careless mistake that I have made, and it reminds me to pay more attention during the class next time.
However, when the lecturer is waiting for the others to edit their collage, I asked him for some feedback about my collage. The lecturer says that the information that I was trying to bring out us quite clear and there is no big problem. But for him, he will probably remove the "seaweed" behind. I did explain to him that the"seaweed" is just for texture purposes.
Last but not least, we were given another exercise. This time we will need to do some digital collage. The images will be prepared by the lecturer and we will be conducting this exercise by using Photoshop. Mr.Fauzi also taught us about the rule of thirds and also golden ratio. He shows us how to apply them in our collage piece. He does mention that both methods are not able to apply together in one artwork.

Again, we will need to come out with 3 compositions and submit them in Google classroom before the next class. Before the class end, the lecturer refreshes us on how to crop images in Photoshop. Below is my outcome:

Week 3
After finishing the exercise, actually, I'm still not sure how to apply the golden ratio and rule of thirds in the right way. Because from my first outcome, it looks like both methods are applied and Mr.Fauzi told us that they can't be applied in one artwork. Hence, I asked Mr.Fauzi in class.
After Mr.Fauzi went through what I have done for this exercise, he says that it is good to see me learned during the process. From my first outcome to the third, he can see that I slowly started to notice on the scale. The first outcome is not a good piece because the hierarchy is unclear, people don't know which one to focus on first.

Then Mr.Fauzi asked me to open my third outcome. He wanted to guide me to improve and demo to the others in the class. When he checked my file, he reminds us to practice rename all the layers as it will help us once we went to the industry. Below is the fourth outcome which is the one under the supervision of Mr.Fauzi:
