Motion Graphics & Compositing Project 1
Motion Graphics and Compositing Project 1
INSTRUCTION
Week 3
For our first project, we will need to explore the 8 design principles. The 8 design principles are movement, hierarchy, balance, direction, symmetry, focus, scale, and rhythm. Basically, we have learned all this in semester 1 Design Principles class. But this time we will need to apply them in motion graphics. Other than that, we will be conducting this project with Adobe After Effects. The first 4 (movement, hierarchy, balance, direction) has done by our lecturer and we just need to complete the other 4 (symmetry, focus, scale, and rhythm). That will be part 1 of our project 1 and for part 2 we will need to play around with the composition by using the 8 principles that we did in part 1.
Even though I have learned the software before but I am not that familiar with it anymore as I have a long time didn't use it. However, I started to explore the software while doing this project, and below are my progressions and final outcome.
For symmetry, I just play around with squares and scales as I was doing it as a warm-up.

For focus, I decided to make a circle at the middle as the "focus point" and making some ring zoom in to the focus point. This allows the audiences' eyesight to zoom in to the focus point.
For scale, I did it very simply. I make 4 squares and all of their anchor points will be at the center of the background. Then just scale them randomly.

For rhythm, it was quite hard for me to understand. I went to YouTube and Pinterest to get some ideas. At last, I try to make like two sticks playing with a small ball at the center.

I was not that sure am I doing the right thing and I decided to show the lecturer my part 1 before I start part 2 to avoid extra work. Below is my part 1 outcome in this week:
Week 4
This week, we gonna show our progression for Project 1 to the lecturer and I explained my situation to Mr.Fauzi. After Mr.Fauzi reviews my work, he says that all are correct and I will need to submit part 2 before the weekend. Also, I realized that my background of symmetry, focus, scale, and rhythm is moving a little bit. I tried to fix it but I couldn't, so I asked for help from Mr.Fauzi during the class and under his supervising, I fixed the issue successfully. Below is my edited part 1:
Hence, I started to proceed with part 2. I try to play with scaling, rotate, and adjust the opacity as a transition. below is my progression and outcome:
