Ahead To Dream AF + FS&C Final Project
Animation Fundamental and Film Studies & Cinematography
INSTRUCTION
FINAL PROJECT
Week 5
This week, for Film Studies and Cinematography (FS&C) class we learn about how to write a formal script. Mr.Martin told us that there is only one format to write a script. The slide provided by Mr.Martin is very useful and informative.
Below is the lecture slide provided by Mr.Martin:
Then, we were asked to write up the script of the story for our final project. Below is my script for Ahead to Dream:
Other than that, we were also given extra tasks which are getting references for our character design and try to build up the character silhouette. Before we start the tasks, another lecture slide about character exploration was provided by Mr.Martin.
As mentioned, I decided to use the character that I had created during Animation Fundamental exercises, so I just barely explore it. Below is my character exploration together with the scene breakdown:
Week 6
This week, we learn about what is Pith Bible and why we need Pitch Bible. Pitch Bible is used for showing your client what we are doing, what is the story about, and how is the art style. In Pitch Bible, we need to put all the best information that we have to persuade the client to buy our work. Below is the slide provided by Mr.Martin.
Week 7
After Mr.Faizal reviewed our previous exercises and project, we were asked to start working on our final project. For those from BDCM, our final project is combining with Film Studies and Cinematography. We will be creating a story based on our own story then make a storyboard. Next week, we will need to propose 5 shots to Mr.Faizal and Mr.Martin as our final project (a 20seconds teaser for our animation). After the shots were confirmed, we will start animating them.
As Mr.Faizal still doesn't know anything about the story that we created, Mr.Martin asked us to present our pitch bible to Mr.Faizal in the next class. Below is the slide that I created for my presentation:
Week 8
No class for this week due to Public Holiday.
Week 9
Mr.Faizal started the class by viewing some of the students' work and demo us on how to improve them. After that, Mr.Martin joined our class to see us (Me, Alfie, and Jon) present our pith bible to Mr.Faizal. After the presentation, from what we received from Mr.Faizal, he actually hopes to see the animatics so he can have an idea of how we going to animate it. Then, we were asked to show the animatics for the final project next class.
Below is the animatic that I created:
For the last scene, Mr.Martin actually suggests me to add a stadium scene after the eyes bling. Hence, I proposed my new idea to him and he was kind of love to see it.
Week 10
This week Mr.Faizal checked how is everyone doing for the final project. Others were showing their storyboard or script and Three of us (me, Alfie and, Jon) are going to show our animatics. After viewing my animatics, Mr.Faizal did a demo to show me how to improve my first running shot.

Week 11
There is no class for this week. Those who need consultation were asked to pm Mr.Faizal on Whatsapp. We were also informed by Mr.Faizal that we will need to record a 10mins presentation video and submit it together with our final project on Week 13.
This week, I tried to finish two shots. But in the end, I only able to finish one shot. Below is the shot that I had completed.

Week 12
There is no class for this week. Those who need consultation were asked to pm Mr.Faizal on Whatsapp. This week, I tried to finish all the shots but due to some issues, my progress was delayed and I have one more shot left to complete before the submission day.

Week 13
We will need to submit our final teaser and presentation video on Wednesday. Finally, I finished my last shot and I successfully add on the sound effects and BGM before 12am. But due to some issues with my Adobe Premiere Pro, I was not able to submit my presentation video on time. I texted Mr.Faizal to informed him about it. Then, I try my best to fix the software issues, and finally, I submitted the presentation video on the next day of the submission due date.
