INSTRUCTIONS

Week 1

For the first exercise, we were asked to post 3 favorite stop motion on our blog. My 3 favorite stop motion from YouTube:

1. FANTASIA. A Stop motion Animation by Guldies
I like this one because the way he models the clay is really smooth and details. The lighting does make the scene looks very atmospheric.

2. Move Mountain
This is a story about illness, perseverance, and our connection to everything around us. The story is quite interesting and the are many characters in this stop motion. They even include 2D animation characters in the dancing part.

3. "Bottle" by Kirsten Lepore
This is a really sad story that touched my heart. They film this at a beach, in snow, and even underwater which really amazes me. The 2 characters are made by sand and snow which is very interesting and special.

Before we start our final project, of course, we will need to have a topic. We were asked to shortlist 3 PSA Topics provided by the lecturer hence choose one to focus.

The PSA topics that I shortlisted initially were anger management, stress management, and also suicide prevention. The reason that I choose this 3 is that I had been facing those problems before. I was a really bad temper person, I lose my temper easily. This made me hurt the person who really loves me before, and I screw up everything.

Last time I was a person who feels stress easily. When I'm stress,  I become very stubborn and mad. I don't talk to anyone even my family. Sometimes I also feel like everyone is not at my side. Hence, my mind turned negative and always thinking to die. Luckily I had gone through all of this and achieved myself today. Basically, I feel that I'm able to express the feeling better for these 3 topics as I had some experiences.

After a few considerations, I decided to choose anger management as the topic for my final project. The reason I choose this is that I'm still not able to fully control my anger.

Week 4

This week, we were asked to make a "proposal" or a brief about our final project. We will need to include:

Ideation: 1-2 paragraphs (The story is about ___. The theme of the story is ___. )

Art Direction: Clay/Paper-cut/Lego, Set building, visual references.

3 Act Structure: Describe the story in 3 act structure:

Act 1:

Once upon a time, there was ___.

Every day, ___.

One day ___.

Act 2:

Because of that, ___.

Because of that, ___.

Because of that, ___.

Act 3:

Until finally, ___.

And ever since then, ___.

The Moral of the story is ___.

My Final Project Proposal:

Week 10

This week, we were asked to show our animatics for this project. An animatic is a preliminary version of a film, produced by shooting successive sections of a storyboard and adding a soundtrack. I was thinking to record my own voice for the sound but I was in rush and I didn't make it. Below is my first attempt for the animatic.

Mr. Martin says that my story is too rush, there are too many things happening, and the audience hard to get the story. Also, there is no sound for my animatic which makes it harder to understand the story. Hence, I remake my animatic and add on sound effects. Also, we have to show a trial shot in next week's class. What we need to take note is we are doing 6 frames per second but not 24 frames per second.

Week 11

We showed our revised version animatic and also trial shot in today's class. When I was shooting the trial shot, I was facing a problem which is the clay is a bit too hard which makes it hard to do modeling. Other than this, there is not much problem. Below is my trial shot:

Week 13

We have 2 more weeks to complete this project. So I decided to finish my stop motion this week so that I will have time for other module. When I edit it according to my animatic, I feel like the scenes changed too fast and the story is really too rush. So I decided to cut out some scenes, but this does affect my frame rate. Below is my final outcome for this project:
