Week 1

To start this module, we were given a brief on what we need to do. Basically, it is 1 Project but separated into 3 sections. Which are proposal, data collection, and the final outcome. And also, all of these are group projects, we need to get in a group of four/five.

Of course, before we start the project we need a topic and Mr.Charles is the one who announced us the topic in the lecture theater. The topic for our project is "Mythology". As we are going to a different country, we will need to do something about the Mythology of the country that we are going to. (Some of us are going to Tokyo while some of them are going to Bangkok)

After that, Mr.Charles told us more about Mythology and what is Mythology. Mr.Charles did explain to us what we will need to do (from the first steps to the last). Other than that, he also did show us some senior's work to make use more clear about what we need. After we get into a group of 4, we were asked to prepare some ideas about the Mythology of Tokyo as we are going to Tokyo, Japan.

I'm not really interested in Japan's Mythology but I know more about China Mythology. The only idea that I came up is about Taira no Masakado, who is the top four ghosts/spirit in Japan. Basically, Taira no Masakado got the strongest army in Japan (903AD-940AD), even more than the royalty. Because of that, many problems came to him. He decided to betray his king and he wanted to be the king.

He was killed at Kanto and his head was sent to Kyoto, but his body still at Kanto. His head was trying to get back to his body and it tried to fly back to Kanto. But when it flew halfway it drops down in Tokyo. His head is still in Tokyo nowadays, the place is called "The Kubizuka of Taira no Masakado". The Kubizuka of Taira no Masakado was very near to the Imperial palace which is a place very good with Fengshui. People tried to move The Kubizuka of Taira no Masakado but always something happens. There are also some people who really admired him and they built up 7 shrines in Tokyo just for him. One shrine is with his real head and another 6 shrine is with his samurai armor's part. All the shrines can form a Dipper star on the Tokyo map. Dipper stars have a very good meaning and it is very important in Fengshui. Also, the Dipper formed an enchantment cover up the area including the palace.

As Taira no Masakado was a person who anti the imperial and the imperial palace is in the area of his enchantment. The government and the imperial decided to use another enchantment to block Taira no Masakado enchantment.

Fg.1.1 Another enchantment to block Taira no Masakado enchantment
Due to Taira no Masakado enchantment is much stronger, the new enchantment can't fight over it. So, the government decided to built up another enchantment to cut off the head and the tail of the Dipper. This new enchantment was built up by Yamanote Line. Yamanto Line was built up like a shape of Taichi.

From here we can see that Japan government does believe in Fengshui and they did really apply Fengshui for the city building location.

After that, I had a meeting with my groupmates to share what idea do we have. Then we decided which idea should we use for our project. In the end, we decided to use the idea of Torri and how does the Mythology affects the architectures nowadays. And then we started to do some research on our topic.

In the next class, we had a consultation with Mr.Charles and he told us that our topic was not strong enough. Hence, we need to rethink our topic, and we came out with an idea of the Inari Shrine and architecture nowadays.

Week 2

This week, we started the class with a lecture by Dr.Jinchi. The title of the lecture is Culture and Us. We get to know what does culture really means. Culture can be very wide, not just the traditional culture. There are many new cultures nowadays.

In the other class this week, we met Mr.Charles again for a consultation. We told him about our new topic Inari Shrine and architecture nowadays. But the main Inari Shrine is located at Kyoto. And he suggests us to do research on something we could only found in Tokyo as we are going to Tokyo. The main Inari Shrine is located in Kyoto. He gave us a suggestion which is about cosplay. Hence, our group started to rethink the topic and we came out with "Masquerade of the east".

Week 3

This week there is no more lecture but we still need to consult with our lecturer to show our progress. We consulted with Mr.Charles again and we told him about our new topic "Masquerade of the east". Finally, we got approved for the topic and we can continue our next steps which are the research questions, research objectives, and data collection method.

In the next class of this week, we presented our final proposal to the lecturers. Our final proposal:
