Instruction


Project 1

For the first project if this module, we needed to work on photo manipulation and animate them with Adobe After Effects. To start this project, we were asked to sketch out our idea and show the lecturer.

 In Fg.1.0 there are two ideas, the first one is a cow with a package and sliced into parts. This idea came when I saw a flat logo look like that and I think it would be interesting to look at it in realistic photo. Another idea is to change the dorsal crests of a lizard to Godzilla's glowing dorsal crests. I got this idea because I just watched Godzilla 1 and 2 with my brother few days ago.

 In Fg.1.1 there is 3 ideas. The first one was very random, I just look at a snail and I was thinking what can I do with snail. When I look at the snail's shell, volcano came to my mind and I plan to make the snail like a burning volcano. Of course, the skin texture is important. I was planning to make it like a cracking surface with some flame. The second idea in Fg.1.1 is Slinky from Toy Story. This is a very simple concept, just Dachshund + spring with Andy's room signature wallpaper background. I saw a spring on my table and Slinky came to my mind. I think it would look funny to look at Slinky as a real creature, that's how I got this idea. The third idea in Fg.1.1 is actually a toy of Sinchan. Sinchan is a Japanese cartoon character, he always got a lot of funny toys. The toy of his that I had chosen is the Godzilla figure with butt but not a tail. I was thinking to edit a butt for a real Godzilla from the movie.

In Fg.1.2, there are also 3 ideas. The first one is about a city and a big moon in a huge lightbulb. The message that I want to bring from this is moon is the most important light source at night if there is no electricity. The second idea in Fg.1.2 is also from a movie call Nezha. Nezha is actually one of the Chinese gods. He is a very naughty and stubborn kid. From his real story, he died once because he made some mistake but another god took his soul and put it into a waterlily to revive him. So, I plan to create something like a fetus growing up in a waterlily. The last idea was very random, it's just my face on a mountain looking at the sun. This idea comes just because I was staring at the Mac in class and the wallpaper is mountain.

After sketched out my ideas, I showed them to Mr.Jeffrey and Mr.Martin in class. Both of them have different opinions as Mr.Martin likes the Slinky one while Mr.Jeffrey likes more the Nezha idea. For me, I would like to choose the Nezha idea or either the lightbulb idea. But Mr.Martin says that the lightbulb one doesn't really have a story behind or even a message. At least the Nezha idea got a behind story while the Slinky idea is funny and interesting.

Everyone has a different opinion, and I decided to try on everything that I like. First, I start with the Nezha idea. The is nothing much to explain the progress I finish the first piece because I was just applying everything that I had learned in the class. The only new skill that I learn while doing this piece the puppet tool. We friend show me how to use the puppet tool before the lecturers.

Halfway editing, I feel like the fetus is too normal and I decided to add glowing blood vessels for the fetus. I feel like it looks better with the blood vessels.

After I finished this piece, I showed it to Mr.Martin. Mr.Martin said that the fetus looks fake, I agree with that since I can't really get a real photo of fetus with a good pose. The one I use is just a realistic illustration. Then I rejected this piece and started the Moon and city in a lightbulb.

I quite like this piece but as Mr.Martin said, the message is not strong enough. So I gave up this piece very fast and started another one which is Slinky from Toy Story.

I feel like the room is a bit fake as it is more like cartoon but Mr.Martin said it is ok, not really that fake. Mr.Martin also asked me to start to animate this piece. The most challenging thing while I was doing this piece is when I was trying to add shadow. I swear that I had tried my best to make the shadow real. Actually, I did animated Fg.1.8 Newborn NeZha and Fg.2.3 The Light Source. But I was facing some problems with Media Encoder and I can't really export them. For the chosen one, I actually used my friend's laptop to export it. I don't want to waste too much of their time so I just export the chosen one.

After animate our work, we were asked to upload it on YouTube and turn it in on Google Classroom. That's all for our Project 1.

Sonic Design Final Project

Yeoh Wen Jun ( 0334234 ) Sonic Design Final Project  INSTRUCTION Week 12 In the final project, it is different from what we did before. Before this, we normally use the free stocks sound effect to conduct our exercises. But this time we will need to record our own sound effects. We were given a variety of videos to choose from. Also, an audio storyboard was prepared by Mr.Razif. The reason to have an audio storyboard is that if we are going to record sound in a studio, we need to save time as it is not cheap. We need to get ready for all the materials and know what sound we need to create. Professional Development Week

Yeoh Wen Jun ( 0334234 ) Professional Development Week Introduction As this is our final semester and we will be graduating very soon, we were asked to learn different knowledge from the people working in the industry and make a report. Hence, we were assigned to take part in the Professional Development Week. Professional Development Week is on week 8 of this semester, and there are many types of workshops provided. In this case, we will need to attend at least 6 workshops which is a total of 6 learning hours. Some workshops were compulsory as it was selected by our Program Director but for the rest, we can choose for ourselves.
